Byondis B.V., a biopharmaceutical research and development company creating innovative targeted medicines for patients with relentless cancers and auto-immune diseases, today announced its 7th Annual Molecular Sciences Scholarship at Radboud University, Nijmegen is accepting applications.
Each year Byondis grants a scholarship to one outstanding first-year Radboud University student pursuing a Chemistry, Molecular Life Sciences or Science degree. The scholarship award is €6,000/year, over the course of three years for a total of €18,000. Applications must be received before 1 June 2020. In addition to the financial award, Byondis provides the selected student with a mentor and access to the company and its teams through regular visits and guided tours.
“The Byondis scholarship is an opportunity for university students to experience firsthand what it’s like to work in biopharmaceutical research and development,” said Marco Timmers, PhD, Byondis CEO. “Our hope is to continue giving back to our community and to cultivate the next generation of scientists.”
Rozemarijn van der Veen, a past scholarship winner currently pursuing a master's degree in Molecular Mechanisms of Disease (MMD) at the Radboud University in Nijmegen, said the scholarship helped shape her career. "I found the Byondis employees to be the most valuable asset of the scholarship, as their diverse backgrounds and duties sparked interesting discussions about not only the road to drug development, but the various roads that a biomolecular career can take. Truly eye opening."
Prof. Dr. Elias Vlieg, director of the educational institute for Molecular Sciences of the Radboud University stated: “The Byondis scholarship enhances our educational program by giving students a window into a regional science-based, biopharmaceutical research & development company.”
