Christoph Korpus, PhD, MBA

Mr. Korpus joined Byondis in January of 2025, bringing more than 15 years of pharmaceutical experience to his role. Prior to joining Byondis, Mr. Korpus was the Director of Global Business Development and Licensing Oncology, at Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, where he crafted partnering strategies and led negotiations teams for multiple oncology transactions. In previous roles at the Company, he drove cross-company innovation by managing global commercial and development alliances.

Mr. Korpus began his career as a Pharmacist upon graduating with a degree in Pharmacy from Goethe-University in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and completing his PhD at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich and the University of Connecticut. He also holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and WHU-Otto Beisheim School of Management.

Jacques Lemmens, PhD

Jacques is the Founder, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chairman of the Board (COB) of Byondis. With more than 35 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, Jacques has a proven track record of developing successful business biopharmaceutical ventures that address high unmet medical needs of patients.

Prior to Byondis, Jacques was the Founder and CEO of Synthon, a leading pharmaceutical company specialized in the development, manufacturing and commercialization of complex generic pharmaceuticals globally. Under his leadership, Synthon began its biopharmaceutical activities in 2012 and in 2020 became Byondis, an independent biopharmaceutical company dedicated to creating safe and effective targeted medicines for patients with difficult to treat diseases.

In 2016, Jacques received a royal decoration for his contributions to international business, health and society, becoming an Officer of the Order of Orange-Nassau. He holds an MSc in Physics and Mathematics and a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands.

Wim Dokter, PhD

Wim was appointed Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of Byondis in 2019. He brings more than 25 years of pharmaceutical and biotechnology experience, leading international and multidisciplinary teams in drug development programs, including the delivery of several clinical drug candidates in oncology, autoimmunity and diabetes.

Before being appointed to the Byondis leadership team, Wim was Executive Vice President, Preclinical, at Synthon Biopharmaceuticals. Prior to this, he was Director of Pharmacology and Immunology Program Leader at Schering-Plough, which merged with Merck & Co. (MSD). Before this, he began his R&D career in a progression of roles with broader responsibility at Organon.

A scientist and researcher, Wim has co-authored 50-plus peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals. He holds an MSc in (Bio)Chemistry and a PhD (cum laude) in Hematology and Oncology from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.

Astrid van Alst

Astrid van Alst serves as Byondis’ Chief Human Resources Officer, leading the Company’s people strategy fostering a collaborative, trust-based culture. With a passion for innovation and excellence, Astrid is dedicated to creating an environment where our people can thrive. Their commitment to delivering meaningful results for patients with difficult to treat diseases

Prior to the appointment to Byondis’ leadership team as Chief Human Resources Officer, Astrid held positions of increasing responsibility within the Byondis’ Human Resources function. She joined Byondis from Synthon, where she was an integral part of the Human Resources team managing the spin-off of the biopharmaceuticals company, after beginning her Human Resources career at Secans Global B.V. and Planon Group.

Astrid received her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, at HAN University of Applied Sciences.

Rick Kamps

Rick Kamps serves as Byondis’ Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He brings more than 15 years of experience in finance and operations at biopharmaceutical companies and financial services companies to the role. At Byondis, he has held positions of escalating responsibilities since joining the organization in 2019 and being appointed CFO in 2024. He leads the organization's financial strategy with a strong focus on innovation and growth within the biotech sector. With a deep knowledge of both finance and the unique challenges of biotechnology, Rick supports the organization in making sustainable and strategic financial decisions.

Prior to joining Byondis, he held positions in auditing and financial strategy at Deloitte, during which he spent a period working in San Francisco, and at other financial services firms. He also served as the Corporate Controller at Synthon, a global pharmaceutical company specializing in the development, manufacturing and commercialization of complex generic pharmaceutical medications.

Rick received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Economics at Han University of Applied Sciences, a Masters of Science in Accountancy at Tilbury University and a post-master in accountancy to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) at Maastricht University.

Maarten Nieboer, PhD

Maarten Nieboer, PhD, is Chief Technology Officer at Byondis, where he leads the development and execution of CMC strategy across the company’s innovative pipeline of antibody-drug conjugates. His leadership includes oversight of Quality Assurance, Process Development, Analytical Development, Quality Control, and in-house GMP Manufacturing.

Maarten brings more than 25 years of biopharmaceutical experience to his role at Byondis. He previously served as Vice President and Global Head of CMC at uniQure, where he led global CMC development for multiple gene therapy programs, including the first FDA-approved gene therapy for hemophilia B, and uniQure’s Huntington’s Disease program.

Earlier in his career, Maarten held senior leadership roles at Merck/MSD, supporting late-stage development and manufacturing for immunotherapy, and at DSM Biologics (now part of Thermo Fisher Scientific), where he led cGMP operations, commercial manufacturing, and advanced process development. He has also provided strategic CMC consulting to clinical-stage biotechnology companies. Maarten received a master’s degree Biology and a PhD in Biotechnology from the University of Groningen.
